Description: The Cascade Venue Visitor Centre is the ideal location for your event. Nestled in the foothills of the panoramic Mt. Description: In the rustic surrounds of an original pack house is Willie Smith’s Apple Shed, cellar door of the award-winning cider. Nestled in the beautiful Huon Valley, and only 30 minutes south of Hobart CBD, it is a unique venue for evening functions, or a day out with hearty delicious local produce, ciders, beers, wines and brandy.

Apple Shed

A large rustic barn surrounded by green pastures and old wooden outbuildings, Willie Smith’s Apple Shed is the home of Willie Smith’s Cider. It’s a place to learn about the history of the Huon Valley and its apple industry, while enjoying food made in our kitchen from local and regional, seasonal and sustainable produce. The shed is a hive of activity year-round. 

Apple Museum

Take a tour through the Apple Museum and learn about the rise, fall and recovery of the once infamous ‘Apple Isle’ of Tasmania and the Huon Valley, which was at its heart. The self-guided tour* takes around 20 minutes to complete and costs a gold coin donation.

Adjacent to the Red Shed is the bar/tap room. Unique in form and construction, the vast concrete bar wraps around the imposing black cool room from which our extensive range of beers are housed and are tapped. 

The beer garden has an uninterrupted view of Hobart's iconic Mount Wellington. The space is heated by a combination of an over head heater and open fire pits. Not only do these pits provide warmth but also the mesmerizing beauty of fire. The beer garden itself is covered and can be enclosed if required.

Description: Mawson’s Huts Replica Museum, Hobart’s newest tourist attraction. A full-scale replica of the historic huts used by Douglas Mawson’s Australasian Antarctic Expedition (AAE) 1911-14. Located on the waterfront just 50 metres from Constitution Dock and only a few minutes' walk from the major conference venues. The replica provides an important link with Australia’s Antarctic history and presents an intimate glimpse of how 18 men lived and worked in such confined conditions. Built and operated by the Mawson’s Huts Foundation not-for-profit charity to generate funds for the ongoing conservation of the historic buildings in Cape Denison, Antarctica.

Description: The Port Arthur experience is unforgettable. Just a one-and-a-half hour drive from Hobart, a visit to the Port Arthur Historic Site is Tasmania's iconic cultural heritage experience - something no visitor should miss. Our fascinating tours of the Historic Site, Isle of the Dead or Point Puer offer a unique and engaging way to connect with Australia's convict history.

1830 Restaurant & Bar: In late 2017 we opened a new Visitor Centre that features a brand new restaurant - 1830, where diners can enjoy fresh local produce with views out over the World Heritage site.  Our popular café has been expanded to include different styles of service with additional outdoor dining space. 

Ghost Tour

As the sun sets, come out to the dark grounds of the Port Arthur Historic Site for your 90-minute, lantern-lit Ghost Tour. Follow your expert guide through some of Port Arthur’s more infamous buildings and ruins, and hear vivid stories of unexplained events that have baffled and alarmed convicts, free settlers, soldiers and visitors. 

Tours run approximately 90 minutes and depart every evening at 8:45 and 9:00pm.

Isle of the Dead and Point Puer Boys' Prison Tour

Journey across Port Arthur’s harbour to visit two of the site’s most enigmatic places – Point Puer Boys’ Prison and the Isle of the Dead. Point Puer was the British Empire’s first separate prison for boys, which over its 15-year history, held more than 3000 prisoners, some as young as nine. And, just over the water from Point Puer, the tiny Isle of the Dead was the final resting place for over 1000 of Port Arthur’s people, from convicts to officers, women and children. Tour duration is approximately three hours return.

Tours depart at 11:00am and 1:00pm daily, subject to weather conditions.

Opening hours: The Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens are open 7 days a week for maximum convenience. 

Description: Located just five minutes from Hobart's CBD and sprawling just under 14 hectares is the Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens.

Succulent Restaurant: The Gardens also have a fully licensed restaurant with panoramic views of the Gardens and the Derwent River. Executive Chef Johann Frais’ menu offers quick snacks and coffee, available from 10:00 am to 3:30 pm, and lunch from 11:30 am till 2:30 pm seven days a week.

Guided Tours

Our friendly staff can organise a guided tour for your group focussing on the fascinating history and botany of the gardens - a unique and valuable activity to break up your conference's busy schedule. The onsite Botanical Shop offers a wide range of Tasmanian made gifts and keepsakes for your delegates to browse and take home with them. 

Trained tour guides are available for group bookings, (minimum of 5 people and large groups welcome). Bookings need to be at least 7 days in advance to ensure volunteer guides are available. We like to provide intimate and personal tours with a maximum of up to 10 people per guide for each group tour. We can cater for many groups at any given time.
